Numismatic Crime Information Center - A Houston, Texas dealer was the victim of a vehicle burglary that resulted in the loss of over $20,000 in coins. The victim had picked up the coins from his bank and was en route to a numismatic event. When the victim stopped for just a few minutes leaving his vehicle unattended, unknown suspects smashed the windows and removed the coins.

Horrible story, but why would you ever leave your vehicle unattended with $20k worth of stuff in it, even for a minute? Gas up and get snacks beforegoing to get your coins from the bank and don't stop until you're at the show where (hopefully) there's security to protect you while you unload.

Clearly if you are a dealer with many tens of thousands of dollars of wares that you routinely transport to shows, you run the risk of being surveilled, followed, and victimized.

Yep and the theives have been doing it for at least 60+ years because the dealers still walk off and leave their coins unattended.
