I found a 1950 Mexico 5 centavos at the Coinstar today and when looking it up on multiple sources, the total mintage is listed as 5.7M.

Then there's a note that says 5.6M were minted at Connecticut but were melted.

What mint would this be in Connecticut?

Also, does that mean a total pre-melt mintage of 11.3M or does that mean only 100,000 survived?

Any info would be appreciated!

The going price for this coin indicates that the 5,700,000 mintage is correct.

If only 100,000 survived, the price would be quite a bit higher.

Connecticut might refer to the Waterbury Mint which the mint used from time to time.

Well, I found an error on the placement of where the comment of how many were melted on the Numista page of this coin, so I requested a modification. The referee for Mexico said that, instead of moving the comment, they would just remove it. Apparently there is a book called The Availability of 20th Century Mexican Coins, which says this type may have up to one million pieces out there.
