Canada's 2011 commemorative Silver Dollar marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of Parks Canada - the overseer of the nation's national parks, historic sites, marine parks, conservation areas and other landmarks of cultural and natural importance. The commemorative reverse of the Silver Dollar depicts a close-up view of a Canadian youth peering into cupped hands. The hands are symbolically holding four of Canada's endangered species: a Whooping Crane, a Southern Maidenhair Fern, a Western Prairie-Fringed Orchid and a Kentucky Coffee Tree. (Note: The Mint does not specifically identify the gender of the young Canadian depicted, keaving it open to the individual viewer to decide. The artist responsible for the design, Luc Normandin, has stated, however, that his young daughter served as his model for the coin.)

In 2018, the Royal Canadian Mint issued a Special Edition Silver Dollar Proof Set that included a colorized silver dollar (SD) that was an alternate version (but with a shared theme) of the Mint's annual commemorative silver dollar. The SD marked the 240th Anniversary of Captain Cook at Nootka Sound. The SD features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II (unadorned) on its obverse and facing, color-enhanced portraits of Captain Cook and a Mowachaht chief on the reverse; Cook encountered the Mowachaht people when he anchored at Nootka Sound in 1778. Cook's ship, HMS Resolution is presented between the two figures with a topographic map of Vancouver Island in the background; the area of Nootka Sound is circled on the map.

In 2016, Canada issued a Silver Dollar that commemorated the 150th anniversary of the laying of the first successful transatlantic cable; the 1866 cable was not the first such cable to be attempted, but it was the first to be successful and operate long-term. The coin's commemorative design depicts the iron steamship used to lay the cable - the SS Great Eastern - at rest in the harbor of Heart's Content, Newfoundland after it had completed its task. Shown here is the selectively gold-plated version of the coin that was included in the 2016 Fine Silver Proof Set. There was also a colorized version released as part of the 2016 Special Edition Proof Set. Neither of the SDs shown here was available individually; it could only be acquired via purchase of the designated Proof Set.

Here's a sterling silver $10 coin that was part of the series of coins and medals struck in Australia to mark its bicentennial in 1988. The Uncirculated coin struck for collectors shown here was embedded in a green card that was housed in a matching green wallet that also housed an Information Card. The wallet features the Coat-of-Arms of Australia (upper right corner) and Australia's official Bicentennial Logo (lower right corner). I've included images of the coin, its Information Card and Wallet. Please refer to the Card for brief details about the coin and its specifications.
