Crime Prevention Tip - Turn Off Gps Embedding On Your Phone's Camera

The Regency Store Valued Member United States 103 Posts	Posted 07/10/2017 11:56 pm I was horrified to see that my photos taken with my camera's phone had embedded my home's GPS coordinates into the pictures I had uploaded to Google Drive. Fortunately, every image I've posted to to this site and others have stripped the EXIF data and the GPS info, so that was a relief. But if you use your phone to conduct numismatic business or anything else that involves valuables or staying safe, be sure to check your camera settings and make sure location data (GPS) is turned off. The camera settings are not related to the phone's general location data settings, which is used by apps on your phone (such as google maps) to tell your phone what businesses and such are close to you etc. Stay safe, TRS Report this Post to the Staff

Actual GPS is a definite battery-drainer. If I can see the pic, I know where I took it.
