I found these 2 coins and not sure what causes this. VLDS or something else. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Deteriorating dies I'd guess, although their isn't the "crepe paper" type lines toward the periphery.

Look at your first quarters mint mark. The P looks like it's sitting on its shadow.

Moxking, The "we" and the "ust" are the same way. I'll try again later to get better pics. I just couldn't seem to show what I wanted to in this first round.

They may have been made with the same obverse die. In that case, coin #1 is of a later die stage than coin #2.
People often question my "strange" or "weird" hobby of coin collecting. I think of these people as the common, "pocket change" people. Nothing unique about them. They question those who are different, call them "weird" for not being average. Those who have these strange hobbies are the "rarity" people. They are the "weird". The "quirky." Those who are different from the group are the Morgan dollars in a pile of modern dimes.

Die Deterioration Doubling and MD (Machine Doubling). Not worth any extra. Worth 25 cents. Don't even bother saving them. You are not going to get more for them.
