Does anyone know the purchasing power of a 1921 half crown?

One calculator I found puts the purchasing power of a half crown in 1920 equivalent to £3.63 in 2017. The site http://www.measuringworth.com gives a range of values from £5-£55 depending on how it's calculated.

Thanks for answering @akrie's question! We have had pretty robust participation this round--much better than that time when some whackjob wanted us folks to post their Elvis-related coins and tokens. I'll close this round tomorrow evening.

Thank you Spruett. The reason I asked is because there is a scene in Mrs. Miniver (after Dunkirk IIRC) where her husband buys a round for everyone in the pub and lays down a coin. It seemed to me it may have been a half crown. It certainly did not appear to be gold.

Now there is always poetic license in Hollywood movies, but if there is any sense of versimilitude in that scene, that is a remarkable amount of buying power.

Nor would such a fact be inconsistent with the report in Churchill's Secret War that a half rupee in 1940 could purchase 80 pounds of rough rice in India.

Horray!

Post a coin that fits the following

2 point if minted by another country (3 if visibly marked, 1/2 point for colonial issues, protectorates, the confusion that is the Netherlands or anything similar.)
1 point for 50% silver
2 point 92.5% silver
1 point for being older than 1944
1 point for two or more real animals
And 1 point for Elvis

Matching my coin exactly will get you -1 points for a total of 6 points.

To clarify: Another country meaning, one country minted the legal tender of another country. In this case, The United States minted this Florin for Australia.

You do know that coin was minted at the Tower Mint. Ps Just posting so you don't have a Elvis round. That was not good.
