Anna, as it happens. Catherine the Great was three years old in 1732, and wouldn't start to rule until 1762.

You are right .
I was looking for the coin ....
I found it ...but with Anna.
Very nice coin .

Ooops, sorry about the misappropriation.
..Should have done more fact checking with my own records.
I have always desired a Catherine coin.. got myself confused as I have not looked at this coin in awhile.
Carry on

I'm somewhat confused on the rules for this thread.

Consider the following 4 coins:

1) 1991 ruble (matches country and denomination)
2) 1732 Netherlands East Indies duit (matches exact date)
3) 1735 denga and 1736 polushka (matches country, and the date is close, possibly under the same ruler)

Which would be the closest match?

The 1991 ruble would be, unless someone finagles in to say that it's not actually the same denomination and/or the same country, in which case the denga and polushka would probably be tied for top.

Using bd251's rules, your coins would seem to get:

1) 3 or 1 or 0 points, depending on strictness
2) 1 point
3) and 4) 2 points

My 1770 ruble, however, would be a definite 3 pointer.

(I personally would probably propose a scale with "exact/approximate/none" on all three criteria, which would have a maximum of 6 points; then the 1732 duit would have 2 points, the 1991 ruble would also have 2 points [approximate country and denomination], the denga and polushka would have 3 points, and the 1770 ruble would have 4 points.
But in this case I'm not the current challenger.)

Do European dated Jetons count? All I have left after selling off the foreign coins I had. Interesting game, but only chance for being involved according to the changing rules would be a more current country/denoms coin or match date to a dated jeton or memorial token, very limited to me and a snowballs chance in hades for me to win a post. Too bad. Saw someone mention raising the dated century to at least the 19th as minimum...if you'd want more participation do this. People like me, even beginning collectors can no where near afford this coin being displayed here in this thread. Think 5% max of folks in foreign are financially able to do these, extremely limits participation. I enjoy watching, would like to participate, but...same with the ancients, like the historical/artistic presentations, but man, outta my paygrade!

This round has generated some nice coin images so far, and that's the important part.
I see no reason why dated jetons should be excluded.
Remember, it's a game. Round choice was selected in the spirit of a challenge, not a giveaway.
So post your one pointers; enjoy the show, and save your dough.
Too much tut-tutting and finger waving will discourage participation as surely as a hard to match catch.
I'm also quite ok with being docked a couple of points for misappropriating my own coin, and conceding the round to january1may for his 3 point prize Ekaterina.
Unless, of course, Anna has a lovely twin sister waiting in the wings . . .

I second a six point system. Very straight forward.

Here's the closest I get to a match

In my collection, I only have a few coins from the Empire of Russia, but all are from the 1900s. So instead of connecting my coin to the exact country, I will connect it to the denomination.

Here is 1 ruble from the Soviet Union, 1991:

That way, if we happen to start going by the new system, I will have the exact denomination with (possibly) an approximate country. So that would be the first round I get over one point.

The only coin from Russia in my collection, so this is my closest match.

Russia
10 kopecks
1903

I'd do better with a banknote from my collection and gain 2 points - Russia 1 Ruble 1898.

It made my day seeing this 10 kopek, before actually reading the rules.
