Nah, it won't. Look for the change within three years. And keep clear of falling Confederate statues.

Personally, I'm glad as I admire Jackson for his contribution to our country and I think he gets a bad rap for the wrong reasons. I think it would have been better to put of her on the back helping slaves escape instead of just putting a picture of her on the front.

Our money all needs a MAJOR redesign. This would be a nice start. I hope it happens, but at this point, with our new leader, I'm skeptical.

Honestly I don't think the portrait of Tubman is very aesthetically pleasing.

If people had been taught actual the facts of US history instead of the politically "corrected" version for the last 40 years, we would not have our history being destroyed by ripping down statues. Political correctness is now attacking our history.

I like the idea of people like Harriet Tubman being honored by her own special medal or coin. But replacing founding fathers on our money when EVERY American owes these people for our rights - even the right to to express our opinions on this (and other) issues online - is something I see as just trying to erase more history and reprogramming.

Hey - bring out special commemorative bills for a change instead of just coins - but leave the honored history that established us in place where it should be.

Earle, amen brother! Wrote the same in another thread. Its been planned since the 1930's....destroy a country's history, you destroy it's sovereign identity.

My service brothers bled and died to protect this nation from tyrants, dictators and maniacs from Tarawa to the Mekong Delta, Beruit, Fallugiah, and Helmand. Now this nation wants to leave its front and back doors unlocked, so much for protecting our national sovereignty, we are to become "citizens of the world"...funny(?) thing is, think it was Stalin who fed that same line to the fledgling Union of Soviet Socialists Republic in the late 1920's...sad.

However misguided, the effort to destroy the monuments of our troubled history is bound to continue.

It's a shame but
We can't sugarcoat history. We have to accept it the way it is because it's not going to change. The most frustrating part about this statue controversy is that 95 % of the people protesting their removal had no idea who the statues were of(the confederate generals or the gynecologist who practiced on slaves). If we stick with that mentality then we need to make some big changes to our money and change a name of a state and our capital because Washington, Jefferson, and Madison all owned slaves. It sounds extreme but I wouldn't be surprised if that happened somewhere down the line. I'm scared to grow up in this country our morals are all wrong and everyone is losing sight of who they are. Every person no matter their race born in the United States has at least one thing in common. We are Americans. We have to accept the good and the bad history. We can't choose what we think makes us look good and forget the rest. It doesn't work like that. These statutes are reminders of a history that 95% of the population would never know about if they weren't there. It's a shame that they would take them down. At least put them in a museum or something! Someone with an amazing talent spent a lot time carving those statues.

I refuse to get involved in a US political discussion. That said revisionist history is a dangerous road to drive down.
If we do not learn from past history we are doomed to keep repeating it.
You cannot apply today's 21st century progressive thinking to deeds of the past.
This left wing revisionism is the new norm in all the western democracies and is most dangerous.
Remember this 1917 Bolshevism
1933 Brownshirts
1970s China
Today ISIS , white supremacy, Antifa
All are extremist and should never be tolerated by any moderate clear headed thinker!

What next? Demolish the Stone Mountain monument in Georgia? Confiscate all Stone Mountain half dollars?

OK, I'm done.

In Austin, TX, many of the statues representing Confederate historical figures around the state Capitol and the campus of the University of Texas have been removed from the places at which they've been standing for decades and relocated to a museum.

To me, it's akin to people changing history books to suit their sensibilities. I'm certainly no fan of slavery, but I am a fan of the truth.

On the other hand, that truth may be better suited for a museum, rather than at the steps of a Capitol building or a university. Museums are meant for looking back. Capitols and places of learning are meant for moving forward.

BUT as others have said countless times... we're doomed to repeat the past if.... well, you know. There just is no good answer.

Somehow this topic has gotten a wee bit sidetracked, but it's always food for thought.

Regardless..... again, with the current administration, I'm not surprised that the effort to change up our paper money has bogged down.
