@barryg that coin is preposterously thick?!

Sri Lanka 10 Rupee, Philippine 5 & 1 centavo sentimo

The Sri Lanka coin is reeded at the flat edge only..

While these are Indonesian coins with discontinuous reeding (I don't know if it is uncommon feature or not... Sorry if it is not )

I love these things

Japan, 100 mon
"Tempo Tsuho"
1835-1870

Countermark at 9:00 and 3:00

E for more clarity:

The rim countermarks on these coins were done officially, as these coins were very easy and profitable to counterfeit; 100 mon could buy about 8 pounds of rice in the mid-1800s. All genuine examples should have these punches, and should show metal distortion/distress on the rim from the strike.

My least coin-like coin:

India, Gandhara
C. 600-500 BC
Silver "Shatamana" or double-siglos (11.5g, 38mm long)

And the Mint called the Baseball HOF coin a "breakthrough"!

Cool shaped coins. I think I need some of those especially the hexagon gold when I can afford it!

Yes, indeed! And preposterously overpriced to match.

Ah well, live and learn...

Somehow my mind just wandered towards rai stones. They're quite different, not just on the edges. Too bad I don't own one so I can't take a picture of one to post it here...

Here's an irregular-shaped coin, perhaps the roundest they could make at the time:

Paphlagonia/Sinope 1 drachm, 480BC-450BC:
