Lots flashier in hand, this was an auction pickup from earlier in the pandemic, another of the seldom-seen British silver tokens in my collection that circulated during the last decade of King George III's reign. This 1811 18-pence beauty was issued by Edward and Francis Butt -- familiarly known as "The Butt Brothers" -- drapers, or tailors, who had their business in Stamford, Lincolnshire.

Dalton 17; Davis 17.



I never pay too much for my tokens...but every now and then I may buy one a little too soon.
