I don't do Morgan dollars very much because well they take forever especially without a cutting board. But I find that they are very good for teaching me patience. Either way for your viewing pleasure or horror depending on how you feel a 1921 altered Morgan.

So you "made" this?

I find myself in a mix of extremes here :) I think the piece looks very cool. And that would certainly take a great deal of patience so well done. On the other side, I think that poor coin :)

However, re-purposing junk and perhaps someone will see it and become inspired to investigate the history.

All in all though, I can't stop looking at it so well done in my opinion.

Absolutley beautiful work! But to do this to a Morgan
You saved the metal that you removed right?
I personally think that the work you do takes a special skill indeed. You have a unique talent. But like scopru said, "that poor coin"
BTY, how does the obverse look?

Very cool and very horrifying! At least it's a '21....

Might I inquire how many hours you have in this piece, Richard?

Yes, nice job and nice to look at - yes, poor Morgan dollar.

Oh, by the way – the book I gave you for Christmas has to be returned to the library next week.

Looks really nice!

Much better to butcher a Morgan than an Ike.

It is a great piece of exonumia, and if it was just a 1921 at VF or less, it is hardly a big loss.

Now that you mention it - the reverse of a cupro/nickel Ike reverse would be pretty nice looking!

So you have shown the Morgan (and a puzzle elsewhere) and now an IKE. I have to assume you have others you can post pictures of. If so I would certainly like to see them. Or are other coins to small to work with? I am certainly impressed with the patience and effort to do this.

I said it because I knew Richard had an Ike in his portfolio.
