Had to look up merthiolate. A mercury containing antiseptic. The definition I found said it was back from the 20s. Just how old are you Hondo? Lol.

Thank you everyone for supporting my thread. I immensely enjoy the banter as well.

Methiolate? I spent a lot of years with Grandma telling me to come into the house so she could clean my cut with iodine.
Oh no! The dreaded iodine treatment I was assured was good for me and yet it hurt much worse than the cut itself.

How nice it was to one day see the bright red "Mercurachrome" labeled bottle.
Me: What's that?
Grandma: Iodine with no burn!

A miraculous day we lived in!

Mercury?! Oh well...we lived though it anyway! Used to play with mercury in my hands all the time also. We did not know any better.

chafemasterj and Earle, merthiolate wasn't banned until the late '90s. I have quite a few bottles of it that I've picked up at estate sales. Also mercurochrome. They both work great at treating infected scrapes, and it seems that scarring is much reduced.

Hey everyone. Sorry I've been MIA for some time. Son graduated from high school and has been feverishly working on his Eagle Project for Boy Scouts before he turns 18. Crazy. (Edit) He is a master procrastinator.

Here's an interesting counter stamp. Looks to be a coping saw.

A local coin shop dealer in business for near 40 years on his last day in business sold me a collection of an acquaintance of his with 380 in all in 2x2 flips in a large 20 page binder. 3 pages were pennies including Novelty Pennies. It included: 8 blank planchets; 9 Lincoln/ Kennedy counterstikes, 5 Indepence counters ( Liberty Bell left/ USA map right): 2 Lincolns with Pipes and 1 with cigar; 1 Libra w/ scales; 1 "eastern star". These we neat finds and bring back memories of ones I saw when I was young. I already found a Mason's penny CRH.
