Lol. No cicadas sorry to say. A dragonfly or bee is as close as I could come.

Close enough! These are great! For some reason I love mounting insects like they do for museum displays or in natural settings. I have caught/assembled/mounted several large displays before...but for some reason never kept one for myself!

Periodic Cicadas are fun...enjoying them being out.
Just for those not fortunate enough to live where one of the 10 broods are...here is a better picture representing what you are missing! Yes, this is typical in fields/woods/etc. When further away the sound is a raspy, ever present background noise even audible inside the house. When closer to them in wooded areas the sound somehow becomes something like the emergency broadcast system signal.

I have samples of Littleton putting out 6 and 7 counter stamped sets for the Apollo missions. Here is a 4 coin set that is cut off at Apollo 14. Judging by the date on them the set was probably put out before the Apollo 15 mission. To see close up images of these go to pages 2 and 3 in this thread.

I just won a bid on eBay for some Littleton catalogs. Been looking forever for some. Be cool to see what they put out that I don't have yet.

1873 IHC counter stamped "OIL OF ICE"

This counter stamp might be in reference to the disaster that befell the United States whaling ship industry in 1871. 33 whaling vessels (a majority of the US's fleet), were trapped in Arctic ice in late 1871. Whale blubber was used as oil for all manner of things then. The story on Wikipedia is interesting.

Hey Earle42. I haven't really dug into the catalogs but it seems that there aren't any counter stamps listed. All other manner of coins are listed in the two catalogs I perused. I'll update when I have time to dive in deeper.

Here is a fairly common double counter stamp that I'm sure I've shared on this thread before. This example was in such good condition and came with the envelope from Littleton I figured I'd share again. 1975-D Bicentennial counter stamp...
