Looks to me like some nice honest wear plus Struck Through Grease in some of the inscriptions. Very nice!

Over polishing on the devices has all those effects, thinning, lack is polish/grease, disappearance, shallow is filled, smearing is damage, then toss in the honest wear, bake a 110° for 35 years, and the State Fair Award goes to....
