How did that 1848 even straight grade with nasty gash on the 12 'o' clock point on the reverse?!

That's a typical looking strikethrough error, not PMD. They're somewhat more common on Seated dollars than other series.

Here is an 1845 Half Dollar that came back quickly. Both sales were from the bay and the second was a pretty good profit.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/1845-SEATE...047675.l2557.
The buyer had sent the coin to NGC and received a details grade but still made out on the deal.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/NGC-1845-P...047675.l2557
I have purchased one coin from the original seller and his auctions always look questionable(coins are usually certified by NNC but he will not show the grade?). He has a return policy and the coin I got had to be returned, ever since he has blocked me from bidding/buying. Maybe this is for the better?

Heymikep, "centsles" _is_ NNC. Just FYI. I would guess his blacked out grade was probably MS65.

The prices realized for both auctions doesn't make any sense. Is this some type of shill bidding scheme?

Here are prices realized for 45 Seated half dollars: http://www.PCGScoinfacts.com/Coin/Detail/6248

What is going on?

Wow, What do you know. It came back a third time for much less. Looks like the second seller re-listed it and lost money!

Mikef, Did you see the value of the 1845 for an AU58? PCGS graded coins are more than double what NGC graded coins sold for? That doesn't sound right either.

What your seeing on the NGC side is a lack of comparables. There are none in 55. 1 in 53 but it's from 2006. 4 in 50 but they start in 2013 and the remainder 2011 and 2000. 1 for 45 but that's from 2012.

The first 3 in au-58 are in old PCGS holders and one has CAC approval.

The prices all the way up and through ms are just all over the map. You have click on each coin to compare. What a nightmare to attempt any type of price discovery!

1834 toned capped bust half au-55 sold for $822 in august 2016. https://coins.ha.com/itm/bust-half-...ot=1x=0&y=0#

Hammered last night at for $552. https://coins.ha.com/itm/bust-half-...yBids-101116

I was the underbidder. It has been mysteriously removed from my watch list and bid history today. The only reason I found the listing is b/c I saved the link in my favorites. The bid against me was automated.
