I've been a coin gatherer for many years. I've given coins away but have never sold anything. I'm about to move to a new house and I thought it would be prime time to unload some duplicates I have. I've got quite a few Walkers and Franklins, some silver Washingtons and Roosevelts. All are circulated (AG-F). There is an auction that I attend in a little town nearby and silver always sells very well. But, I don't like the idea of sending these coins off to a smelter, even indirectly. Opinions: is it better to throw these coins in an auction, take to shows for trade or sell on the forum? I've never shipped appreciable weight, so that would be a learning experience. Thanks for your thoughts.

Edit: By the way - I don't do Paypal or eBay, so those options are out.

You can sell your coins on the CCF sell forum. You can do a check transaction. They will go to a good home.

PM me about shipping options if need be. I send a lot of smaller item lists as well as massive lots, have learned the least expensive ways.

Sell through here first, you have no seller fees to pay, auctions are consignments of usually a 12-20% fee to the house(add shipping costs too), any online venue(Ebay, et al, ) will charge fees and usually require some guaranteed forms of secure payments. Try CCF first, remember the basics, @13% times face for silver with a bit of hedging for condition. Any question, give me a holler, I owe ya!

Thanks for the replies and for moving to the selling forum.

I will try to put together a list of dates and conditions tonight and post tomorrow when I get to the computer at my desk (will be difficult with my phone!) As an example, I think I have about 15 or so '47 Walkers in various grades. And, most all of the '40s are represented along with a few mid-late '30s. Have a good number of Franklins and a few Kennedys. All told, I think there are around 200 halves. The quarters and dimes will be common dates. These coins were stored together in a bag for about 50 years, so there is various toning, etc.

Thanks to Crazy for the offer of assistance. I will be sure to take you up on that!

Edit: PM replied Toot.

I've put together a list of the extras from my spreadsheet. Still need to go back and look at conditions, but all are circulated and fall into expected grades for the dates. As I said, these coins were put aside in the mid-60s, so some of the later dates look AU-ish. Still deciding what would be a fair price for buyer and seller, but if you want to make offers until then, I will consider. Buyer to pay shipping costs. I doubt it would be worth anyone's trouble to ship overseas after looking at the costs, but if you have a good option I will look into it.

I've had interest in a few of them from someone at work, so the list may be pared down in the next day or so. Sorry to be so erratic, but this is new to me. Thanks for checking them out:

I messed up the dime list. Dates are not accurate. I've passed the info along to the prospective buyer. Sorry for the error.
