After that eye candy, it almost seems a shame to post my lowly Denier Tournois. It least the letter A is distinct.

I really need to find the self-discipline to save up for one of those.

@petrus, nice coin. Unusual denomination and a very scarce mint. Also like that 10 kreuzer @pepactonius. Decimal denomination in the 1600s?
I've just got another well worn poltorak from Swedish occupied Elbing, 1630 (though I'll comment we already have 5 different countries today ... depending a bit on how we count Sweden and Poland)

here is a 1630 Jeton issued in Brussels (Dugn.3856)

obverse: Crowned snake biting its tail, forming circle surrounding a bright six pointed star
Legend: 16 head 30 FATO PRVDENTIA MAIOR (prudence is stronger than fate)

reverse: Coat-of-arms of Johan Francois Fourneau, Lord of Kruikenburg
Legend: POST NVBILA PHOEBVS (after rain comes sunshine)

this jeton was one of the examples showing the influence of older emblem books on the mint masters of those days; discussed in this thread http://goccf.com/t/336420&whichpage=4#2892897
