A recent addition to my collection - 1966 Portuguese 20 escudos depicting the suspension bridge across the Tagus at Lisbon, then called the Salazar Bridge, now the 25th April Bridge:

The actual bridge, seen from a cruise ship in January 2020:

@NumisRob: Nice! Were you on the cruise ship?

Yes, it was January 2020 and I was working as Port and Destination Speaker on a cruise to the Canary Islands, Spain and Portugal. Two months later the whole cruise industry came to a halt...

Cool! If I may ask, which location(s) fell within your area of expertise?

I was employed as Port & Destinations Speaker. So before each port call, I gave a 45-minute presentation on the port, what to see, a brief historical overview and descriptions of the excursions passengers could take and other things they might like to see - plus of course helpful advice about currency, how to send a postcard home, what to do in an emergency, etc.

Another new addition to my collection - a 1991 5 Roubles from Russia showing the Cathedral of the Archangel in Moscow:

The Cathedral taken from a slightly different viewpoint during my visit to Moscow in 1998:

Nice!

From the notes you've included your various posts, it appears that you've done a fair amount of traveling. Whenever I traveled to new locations for work (domestic or international), I always tried to extend my stay to take in the local sites. I enjoyed traveling!

My parents took me on quite a few foreign vacations when I was small, and really started my passion for travel. My first job after college was as a tour manager escorting holidaymakers on bus tours of Europe. I later worked in the admin and product development divisions of two of the UK's largest tour operators. Nowadays I am a freelance tour guide and also work occasionally as a lecturer on cruise ships.

Same here! I always tried to extend my stay, such as delay my flight for a couple of days if a work assignment finished on a Friday! My most extreme 'extension' was when I was route-proving a tour in Chile and I booked a return flight to Easter Island - unforgettable!

I posted this one over in the "Post Your Coins with Stars" thread, but believe its historical significance merits a post in this thread as well.

The coin is the US 2007 Little Rock Central High School Desegregation Silver Dollar, the place is the Little Rock Central High School in Arkansas. In 1957, the school was witness to a watershed moment in US history - the desegregation of a high school in the face of significant local opposition. Nine African-American students enrolled in the Little Rock, AK high school as a test of the recent Supreme Court decision, Brown v. Board of Education. that ruled that it was unconstitutional to segregate schools based on race. (Check out the link below for more!)
