When I'm photographing proof coins I use a piece of cardboard to offset the direct natural lighting from my window. That's how I get the black background. With this coin I could get the outline of the maple leaf better but it threw off the relief.

Nice Canadian commem GLB, I have a moose cad incoming. Lovely coins, Canada has some of the best mooses in the world, maybe the best!
