Ireland - "King" James II
May 1690 Half Crown (30 Pence)
"Gun Money" - Dublin mint
ANACS F15 (old small holder)
Late die state with numerous die cracks and recutting.

James II was plotting to retake his place on the British throne by force. Unable to pay wages or expenses with precious metal coins, he offered these coins made from melted brass and other metals as a sort of "I.O.U." with the promise to redeem them for lawful gold and silver coins once he was King of England again, a promise never kept.

@paralyse, I'll echo dorado's comment on a nice pair of acquisitions. I don't have British coins any more, but know that many of those William IV issues are tough.

I'll add this one that's been on my list for a little while, and I just picked up on eBay of all places. It's the earliest dated coin issued under authority of the Polish crown. 1507 polgrosz (1/2 groschen) Krakow mint.
