Netherlands Antilles, 1994 25 Gulden, 60th Anniversary of the first flight from Amsterdam to Curaçao. Quote: On 15 December 1934, exactly 80 years ago, a very special flight departed from Schiphol. At ten minutes past midnight, the triple-engine Fokker F-XVIII "Snip", registration PH-AIS, took off with a four-man crew on board: J.J. Hondong, captain; J.J. van Balkom, first officer/navigator; S. van der Molen, deputy navigator and radiotelegraph operator; L.D. Stolk, flight engineer. Their final destination was the Antillean island of Aruba. Full story: https://blog.klm.com/klms-first-tra...ntic-flight/

I brought 5 coins today, 4 British ones in the British coin thread and this weird beauty. It is a Bezlik (5 Kurus) of Ottoman Turkey of the reigh of Sultan Mahmud II (1808 - 1838) and is dated AH 1223 year 26 meaning 1248 or 1832/33AD. It's a strange piece that looks coppery, but is infact a debased silver coin with 17% silver. Its also very large and flat (39mm yet weighs just 13.71 grams). One of the strangest and most interesting coins I have ever brought (I went into a coin shop today and for once it was open!)
Loving Halfcrowns. British and Commonwealth coins 1750 - 1950 and anything Kiwi. If it's round, shiny and silvery I will love it.
