A very common issue, but once again rather in too high a grade to have deserved being thrown into the "junk" silver bin, from which I rescued it today.

Good Fine/VF20.

In Britain, at least, they are so common in this condition that there's a negligible premium over scrap value.

Although I wasn't asking for grade opinions, and I realize that the range of prices for circulated examples of this issue in any grade tends to be down toward its bullion value, I still feel as if I need to defend the condition of this specimen.

On the Sheldon scale, I'm hard pressed to see how this falls below XF40, let alone to the bottom end of the VF range. It's unlikely to make AU50 on account of the lack of any original mint luster, but gauging by the remaining detail in the crown on the reverse (the king's hair on the obverse being very subtly and softly rendered even when UNC), abrasion and wear to the high points of the devices is really minimal.

I'd call it VF, but it's unfortunate that there's a lot of weakness in the strike.

LuckyCuss, I think that's a great junk bin find. As Pertinax says, these George V threepences are pretty common in the UK in this condition, but definitely worth saving!

LuckyCuss,
In my view there's too significant wear on the hair, face, cheekbone, and no detail on the moustache for it to make even VF30. On the reverse, there's wear on the crown, the 3, and some of the leaves.
