Anyone have a suggestion for an album for elongated coins? You know, the ones you can get from amusement parks and tourist attractions where you deposit 2 quarters and a cent, turn a crank, and you get an elongated coin with a nifty new design in it?

Well, my wife has started to put a small collection together of these from the various tourist attractions we've visited (Disney, etc.) and wants a place to store these. So, I'd like to get her something but this is the only one I can find:

Anyone have experience with this one?

I don't have experience with the album that you linked to, but the coin pockets have the appearance of PVC. I would definitely check before ordering.

Why not purchase 2x2s made specifically for elongated cents (available from multiple sources) and place them in non-PVC pages in a binder?

I know there are 2x2s made specifically for elongated cents. I've not purchased any, but this is perpetually on my eBay Watch List to remind me:

I do have a couple of elongated quarters and I don't think these 2x2s would work for that.

I keep most of mine in the standard 20-pocket pages that take flips or 2x2s, but I also have one of the albums that you get at some of the tourist attractions where they have penny machines. The elongated coins are held in place by small clear strips that don't appear to be PVC - I've had some coins in it for over 10 years and they don't seem to have been affected. It came from Jamestown in Virginia.

I've used that one when I was younger. Works great.

I just received my first ever shipment of these today (from Wizard). They are awesome--so much better than using the dollar-sized 2x2s. Then you can store them however you store all your other coins in 2x2s.

Thanks for the input, everyone!

I'd be surprised if Wizard sold something with PVC in it, but I suppose you can't be too careful. If we go that route I'll definitely make sure it's not PVC.

Keep in mind that this is for my wife who isn't the collector that I am. I want to make this approachable for her otherwise she'll just tell me to do it and it won't be *her* thing any more.

I'll present both options and see which one she goes with.

Thanks again.

So I went ahead and bought the tri-fold album and put it in my wife's stocking. She loves it. I think the key here is it's not over-the-top collector geek-out and keeps her treasures in one place.

While I would love for her to go over-the-top collector geek like I do, that's just not her thing. So I'll take the little victories and enjoy life while she doesn't care that the PVC is sliming up her flattened Zincolns.

Kidding, kidding. I've at least taught her to use coppers for her elongated cents.

I think we can all identify with that sentiment.

It sounds like you made the right choice!
