I have had this dime for a few years now, since it looked interesting. Just curious what everyone thinks of it.

thanks

Hi, it's what's called a " Dryer Coin". It may have been lost in a commercial drier, and over time the rims on the coin were slowly beaten in towards the center. Whatever happened exactly, it happened outside the RCM.

so as a Dryer Coin, the edges would come in that deeply and perfectly like that? There are no ridges along the outside edge like there are supposed to be, it's completely smooth.

I disagree.. IMO its a detector find.. or just tumbled or whizzed, then spooned.
usually found in silver halves, but why not a dime?

I just guessed it was a " Dryer Coin" since it's not silver and the fields were worn too...post-mint, whatever happened.

malissa, whizzed is when you take a whizzer to the coin, spin it down to wear the coin down,
and spooning is when you take a spoon and tap the out side of the coin continuously all around the outside of the coin, until teh ridge comes completley smooth and it starts to fold and widen. (just like your picture)heres a link..
