It's not often that the loosing side of a war issues medals but here are two privately issued French medals commemorating the city sieges of Strasbourg and Paris.
The Strasbourg medal is bronze 26mm and looped as struck. The obverse has a portrait of General Urich in uniform wearing identifiable medals. The reverse has a seven line inscription crediting him with the city's heroic defense. This medal is slightly used with a slightly weak strike in the center of the reverse.
The second medal honors the Siege of Paris during which the Republic was proclaimed, and therefore the obverse has an allegorical portrait of the Republic of France with the date of proclamation. The reverse has the legend and dates of the Siege of Paris. This medal is bronze, 24mm with it's loop broken off and has moderate wear.
Both medals for $20 post paid to any US address. No foreign orders please.
