Fantastic story NumisRob. You found that coin the year I was born.

Even more fascinating is that size and type of 5 Centimes was no longer being made that size and metal after 1904 (Yes I know that was a later type, but the coin was the same size and metal and Napoleonic III coins of the 1850s).

So 1904 to 1976, that is 72 years, I wonder what that coin was doing all that time. I chose 1919 as I think that was the last year of the silver coins to 2 francs and the beginning of the Chambre du commerce brass series in 1920.

I brought a bulk silver lot last year and it had heaps of French silver from 1900 to 1918 and it was 50c, 1F and 2F, none later than 1918 and the 1916,17, 18 was quite nice.

No more coins from me for a while, as we are in lockdown and cash money is all but banned during lockdown.
Loving Halfcrowns. British and Commonwealth coins 1750 - 1950 and anything Kiwi.
If it's round, shiny and silvery I will love it.

File this under CAR COINS:

I help out at a local auto upholstery shop, and last week we did a new carpet in a 1978 Chevy Camaro. After taking the seats out, I noticed some coins peeking out from under the original carpet. There ended up being quite a few under there, and amazingly, most were very clean! Alas, none were very interesting, either.

Well, the 1952 nickel is interesting, especially if it has a mintmark.

Fun finds.

My younger brother had a '78 Camaro in High School. Looks like the same red interior.

Looks like it was a popular place in Burlingame CA for at least 25 years. There's even a Facebook page for fans to reminisce.

If the car was originally from California, it would explain both the lack of rust and the faded carpet!

JOHN77 - I can't seem to FIND the thing now!! I possibly assumed it was too worn to keep and put it into the loose-change can!

JBUCK - here's a shot of the finished job for you

EDIT: I just noticed a small sliver of carpet peeking out from under the sill-plate (with the good ol' "Body By Fisher" logo). The boss trimmed that one, so I hope he noticed it before the customer picked the car up!
