Randy, what do you think about this:
The Large Denomination 5 was used to repair two 1858 reverse dies. The Large 5/Small 5 variety has a strong underlying Small 5, the one you just bought has a weak (but present) underlying Small 5.

I haven't checked die cracks or anything, just speculating.

Once again, congratulations on the purchase.

Nice to see you back here Zonad... been a few years since we shared a beer together.

Thanks SPP-O.
I have a friend who wants to go to Ottawa, and maybe if there is a coin show there we could plan for. (He has a friend who lives there.)
Last time we met in Edmonton when you were out here for work.
This pair of large denomination should be in Charlton but I have no contact there anymore.

A lot of us are in the same boat. Mark Drake is persona incognito as the "editor" for the Charlton Catalogue. In my opinion, he is the owner, not the editor. Your best contacts for the Charlton catalogue are those who are actually doing the real editing. Todd Sandham from Colonial Acres, and Mary-Anne Luzba (layout editor). As far as I know, all the catalogue orders are shipped from Colonial Acres. I did a lot of work for them for the 72nd edition of RCM exonumia, and I didn't even get a note or acknowledgement from Mark Drake... Kirk Parsons (also Colonial Acres) was nice enough to give me a free copy for all my work. I will not do another variety section again, unless things change with Charlton Press.

Bill Cross is dearly missed... he was always answering emails and I would have coffee with him regularly at Coin Expo shows. I hope he is enjoying his retirement.

Yes, I miss chats with Bill as well .. fairly regular in 2010 and 11 when we were doing the Vicky cents and then sporadic when I would see him at shows in the following years. He's in FL as far as I know.

Ultra rare is right. R7?

I sold my G6 and kept my PCGS VG10. Both are now pictured on the PCGS Population report and you can see them below.

I haven't seen any since.

You have both types and probably at the highest condition. My arms are always open wide

Thanks for bumping that old thread, Randy. I THOUGHT that I had remebered it from past years, but the remembering part of my brain is fading somewhat.
