Do I Really Have A 1983 Copper Lincoln Penny?

Hello all I would like some opinions and advice about a 1983 copper Lincoln penny that I happened to run across in my spare change. I have been doing some research in regards to Lincoln pennies in general and found out that if I in fact have a genuine 1983 copper penny it would be worth some big bucks. I read that the only true way you could tell is by weighing the penny on a scale weighing in grams...if its zinc would weigh 2.5g if all copper it would weigh 3.1-3.2g...if I am wrong please correct me. So I borrowed a friends scale weighing in grams and I made sure to test the scale with other pennies everything seemed to weigh correctly. So I weighed the 1983 penny it weighed 3.1...I dont know what to do next? Please help me!

Send it to Big Al..(sorry inside joke)...If your sure it weights 3.1, send it to a TPG...fields to me looks like a 3.1er

I am quite sure..110% that it weighs 3.1g. What would you greasy fingers consider its condition to be? And thank you very much for the advice. Do you have any TPG recommendations?

The obverse rim at 12 o'clock is unsettling. Are you sure it's real? Is it magnetic?

to CCF. Please in focus crop and rotate pics properly and post again. The only true way to test it is with XRF.

Of its what you say it is, condition won't be much of an issue for a rarity like that. Good luck with it.

Must admit it doesn't look like a plated cent.

Send to PCGS or NGC. The cost if real is to small for the reward.

I would definitely send it off to be graded, for if it is the real deal that is a huge find worth a ton. I hope it's real!

If it's real, then it is very rare and worth sending in for authentication / grading. How did you find it?

Better close up pictures would help too. If it's fake, then it's worth nothing, if it's real it is worth thousands of dollars.

While I am the last person to support TPG's, with a coin like this, if you go to sell it no one is going to believe it if it isn't slabbed. So if you really believe it weighs 3.1 grams then yes you should send it to a grading service. And if it comes back as a genuine 1983 copper cent come back here with pictures of it in the slab so we can all celebrate with you.

some better pictures cropped and rotated would be nice.
