I found this in a mixed roll, from a bank box of U.S. Pennies. I think that this is a genuine Rim Clip, since it's showing the signs of a genuine clip. You can see metal flow, where the rim got clipped, during the minting process. What do you think everyone?

The absence of a discernible cut-and-tear texture and its replacement by an irregular texture suggests to me that this is some other kind of planchet defect.

Thank you Mike Diamond! So it's some type of planchet defect.

Such small clips are hard to discern, but looking at the edge I see sideways damage.

Definitely a genuine Rim Clip. I can see metal flow that's typical of a clip.

Coinfrog, I could care a lot less about it being a jackpot or not. It's not about that. It's for the thrill of hunting. I'm keeping it anyways, since it's cool.

Did anyone not see Mike Diamon's post.

It is damage to the planchet, not a clipped planchet. The damage happened before the strike. It was strong enough that the strike could not remove the damage to the planchet.
