Messing with us ain't he?

HEY JOHN, Let's focus on date here...was it minted between 1850-1885?

1. I'm no expert but I'll give my two cents.

2.My favorite coin so far: 1913 Buffalo nickel matte proof type II reverse

Yeah, he's messing with us alright.

My question did not quite achieve what I had hoped.

Anyway, I just learned that there was a $4 dollar gold coin. Who knew?

Lots of info to digest (other players please confirm that I'm not mistaken with these):

1. San Francisco mint
2. gold
3. denomination of more than $2.50, but not $20.
4. date not between 1850 and 1885
5. Bust (if there is one) is not facing right

The denomination cannot be $3, because the remaining years (1886-1889) were minted in Philly. $4 is out based on date, leaving the $5, or $10.

$5:
Only Liberty Head (1886-1906) and Indian (1908-1916) are still in play since we are looking at SF mint.

$10:
Only Liberty Head (1886-1907) and Indian (1908-1930) are left for the same reason.

Does that sound reasonable?
