you guessed twice.!!

I took that back before getting an answer. I had not realized it had been asked before. I only got an answer to one of them.

That coin looks pretty nice for it's age

I went looking for some photos of colonial era Peru coins I sold off a while back, and all of 'em had holes.
I also agree that joecoin has an unparalelled flair for hosting this game .

And now, in the hallowed tradition of royals like Christina of Sweden, Stanislaus Augustus of Poland, and more recently, Pope Benedict XVI, Juan Carlos of Spain, and Akihito of Japan ...

I am abdicating the crown in favor of James Hicks.

Since a few days ago, I have been curious about the coin James has in mind, and I hope my fellow contestants ... and James ... will accept this proposal for the next round.

With overseas dependencies I think (without verifying) it is possible.

If you say so. The way I was reading it I was thinking the four corners. But coffee hasn't kicked in yet

Yes, I think it will take a couple of cups of coffee

Since I was the one who started the sloppy geography questioning ... After a bit of reading, I now realize the U.S. is not wholly in the western hemisphere (some of th ALeutian Islands and Guam are not). But there is no part of the U.S. in the southern. Likewise, I had forgotten that parts of Europe and Africa straddle eastern and western hemispheres. But I cannot find a current African country that also straddles north and south (though I may need to stretch my history back a bit).

So I think that must put us out in Oceania ... (not a question yet ... just sharing my thoughts).

Hmmm ... France (through its overseas departments) is technically in all four hemispheres. The mainland is in east, west and north, and the overseas department of Reunion is in the south.

But there is probably something else in the Pacific that also fits.

Edit: Kiribati is the place in the Pacific.
