I may try something like this in 2020, but it may take me a couple years to do a million. Right now, I am finding the depth level I am happy with for checking for errors as I go through rolls. I separate everything currently into piles of dates-marks (e..g a pile for 2000P, another for 2000D, etc). From there I check for all the errors for that combo. I don't want to grind roll-hunting to a crawl, but I also want to separate anything that has some value as an error coin. Plus, we are snowbirds, so part of my year is in Ohio and part in California. I will be interested in seeing the different average results comparing the two.

All right! I apologize for my inactiveness, but I've had a lot going on in my life recently and haven't really been able to get to the bank. I was able to swing quickly into town today and pick up $25 in pennies. Found 9 wheats for my troubles, but I'm just happy to get back into it. I should be able to get another $25 to $50 on monday. Thanks for the support!

All right, another $31.50 in pennies done. I know that's a weird number, but I asked the bank to give me all that they could and they did, down to the roll! Anyways, a pretty good haul of 15 wheats from these rolls. I should have more updates later this week. Thanks for the support!

As a recent convert to penny roll searching, I post my 60 box results:

pre-1920's: 9
1920's: 14
1930's: 33
1940's: 221
1950's (Wheaties): 275
pre-1961 Canadians: 21
best finds: 1933 Canadian, undated British six pence from the early to mid 1800's

The quantity of finds with pennies is higher than other denominations, but the quality of finds is lower.

Another update! Went through $25 in pennies and I'm pretty happy with my results. Pulled two 20's pennies in one box after only finding 10 in over $1300 in pennies, so I can't complain. As always, stay posted. More updates should follow next week.

@coinfrog, at his current rate he will be finished in about another 21 months. Try to hang in there if you can.

I mean, yah. If you stopped skimping, and just did 86K pennies a week, we would be done in 2-3 months. Stop slacking off! ;)

Hey Scott......enjoy the updates like most people here.

Wondered if you would mind noting one piece of information each time you post, best explained as an example:

Total Wheat Cents: 583 total [15]
50's pennies: 319 [10]
40's pennies: 218 [3]
30's pennies: 29
20's pennies: 12 [2]
10's pennies: 5
09 pennies: 2

You reported two 20's, but no other breakdown. Mine was fictional, but the point is made: show for that group you are reporting on, in brackets, how many you found for each line item. Clearly, you do not need to do any [0]'s.

Is that ok with you?

Hey guys! Sorry for my inactivity lately. I've been overwhelmed with finals, papers, and projects, so I have had a lot of trouble getting to the bank in the past two weeks. I do assure you that I will continue this project. I'm planning on making a trip to the bank tommorow in order to pick up $50 in pennies, so there should be an update coming soon.

To adress webs question, I would be more than happy to use that kind of annotation. That's a very good idea and I will implement it in my next wrap up.
