As an old-timer, I find your results to date pretty much unrewarding from a financial standpoint given the time invested, and doubt that the rest of your odyssey (statistically) will prove much different.

I would try looking for errors and varieties and not just for the Wheats and stuff. Your results would be much better, if you took time to look.

Coinfrog, the point of this is not to be financially rewarding, it is simply to see what I might find in 1,000,000 pennies. Nonetheless, thanks for the support

Another $25 down and I have $50 sitting next to me that I will do this afternoon. Even though I only found 9 wheat cents in this box, I was still happy that 1 of them was a BU 1958-D and that I was also able to recover my first proof cent. I should be posting soon regarding the next $50 as well as some solutions to my lack of finds that I have figured out.

Well, another $50 down and I'm happy to say that both boxes contained double digit wheat cents. They came from the same brinks center but a different bank. I will have to continue to get coins from this bank to see if this level of wheats-per-box stays the same. Thanks for the support!

Coinfrog, I haven't found any super valuable coins, but I have found multiple BU wheats from the 40's and 50's as well as some 1909 wheat cents. The Indian Head cent from 1897 is also up there. All in all, I'd have to go with the two 1909's, which sell for $1.50 to $2 apiece on eBay. Even though this doesent sound like much, its still 200x their value!

As an old-timer who searched hundreds of bags that were 90% wheats even at the end (1962), I find your odyssey a statistically doomed exercise. Slog on with virtually no prospect of a true find.

Coinfrog, why are you being so negative man? This is supposed to be a fun exercise for all to enjoy. I understand that I might not be able to find anything incredible, but that is not the point. I think you may have gotten too close-minded about this project.

Not close-minded, just talking about the staggering odds against your project. Spend your time as you will.

Ignore coinfrog. Keep looking! I am very interested, and with any luck, you may find something really good, or a Flying Eagle cent! Good luck, and happy hunting!

ALL READERS, PLEASE NOTE: THIS HUNT IS FOR FUN, NOT FOR PROFIT. I don't ask for your support, but negative comments don't help.

All right, another $50 down and some more wheat cents and a proof added to the growing collection. I still managed only to find single digit numbers of wheat cents in each box (16 in total between the two) and I am thinking that it might be a good idea to start ordering boxes from the Wells Fargo that I got the last two boxes from, as I had much better luck with those. Either way I will continue this hunt.
