Here is a coin which I'm sure is probably present multiple times in the 78 pages in this thread, but I thought I'd add something which may not be known by newer collectors.

The Saint-Gaudens double eagle has stars on the obverse, representing the number of states in the Union. The number of stars through 1911 was 46, but in 1912 New Mexico and Arizona became states. For 1912 through 1933, there were 48 stars on the obverse, as shown in the picture (I've circled the two added stars).

The Indian Head eagle also made the change from 46 to 48 stars in 1912, but it's not as obvious as the stars are actually on the edge of the coin.
