Looks promising, as long as it's not spray painted. We would need a weight (down to .00 grams) to determine if you got a winner... to CCF

to CCF. Will need weight. Does anyone know if the mint made foreign coins for some country that year? Does not look like U.S. dime stock.I think it is a normal cent that has been plated.

@Fjr, first welcome to CCF. Second, yes the weight of this piece will help us to figure out what you have there.

@T-BOP, that was my line of thinking and why I said "spray painted"...Hey guys, this may be wayyyyy out their, but what year was that aluminium cent minted? You know the one I'm thinking about?....Oh could it be?

@FelipeJr...how did you come about having/finding this cent?

The aluminum cent was 1974, so that's out.

I see lots of little dings and nicks to the obverse rim as well as a couple of other small dings to the obverse (Abe's cheek) that look like common circulation wear, but no toning to speak of.

It strikes me as unusual that any metal coin would be in circulation that long but not have any toning.

Also, it has the same weak steps as the regular copper strike, so at a minimum it was likely struck from the same dies.

to the CCF! If you can get the weight for us, it will help to determine what you have. Without the weight, I'm going to say that it's been through a pretty good plating job.

The rim on the reverse looks suspiciously very similar to the rim on the Chinese made castings of US coins. The date is the only thing that doesn't make sense.
