Sadly, this is my only banknote from Jamaica (after living there for 2 years). I never got my hands on any in decent shape (back in 1995-1996) and I spent upwards of 1/2 hour in the line up to deposit my paycheque (so got an ATM card quick). This $50 commemorates (P-88) the 50th anniversary of the Bank of Jamaica:

Nice note!

Sorry to hear you did not get to obtain more examples during your time there.

-Thanks 'jbuck.' There were these little kids who would stand in line (as proxies) for other customers. The tellers were super slow but these kids who would swap out their place with other kids could make your wait impossible (unless you paid the kid!) I didn't really understand what was going on at first, so I never caught on (to get a decent UNC banknote). Later, a few amused Jamaicans spelled it out for me (why line ups were often impossible there).

Plus, oddly enough, I wasn't into World banknotes at the time. I do recall having a few decent $100 or $500 note but knowing full well I had to get groceries, or a taxi (& it wouldn't last long). Plus the lower denominations had the designs I liked best. It was disappointing how all the low denominations (especially Twos & Five Dollar bills) were just rags (if you got one) since they were being phased out by coins. At the time $20 was worth $1 CDN and about $0.75 USD.

Thinking back, I was just in 'survival mode' living day-to-day in downtown Kingston, Jamaica back in 1995-1996. Good times!

Anyway, here's Cayman's One Dollar P-30a commemorative (500th Anniversary of discovery):

This is one of my favourite commemorative issues. I'm not a big fan of polymer but the image of the aboriginal youth on the obverse is really quite stunning. It's a note you must see in hand.

The one (& only) first polymer from Australia (issued way back
in 1988) $10 P-49b celebrating the Australian bicentennial (though there's no mention of it on the note):

Thanks guys!

This banknote commemorates 500 years since the discovery of the Americas. The 1000 Pesetas (P-163) was issued in 1992, released in 96 & one of the last of four denominations (the other being 2000, 5000 & 10,000 Pesetas) before the Euro. It (& the other denominations) are subtle designs and a very artistic with the vertical backs (much better to view in person):
