I think PCGS really did a bad job with this one. They graded it MS66, and comparing it to their other examples, this coin was clearly very undergraded.

PCGS had the advantage of seeing these coins in hand, but from the pics it's obvious that the strike quality of the 68 is far superior to that of the 66.
"Dipping" is not considered cleaning...

I agree w/66. Comparing it to a 68 is a reach, imo. One thing I did notice, the PCGS 66 example has a scratch over the E in CENTS.

It should be a 67, not strong enough for a 68

The detail in the hair on the 68 is the difference.

The 68 is clearly the superior coin of them all.

Without being able to rotate the coin under light it appears it was limited by the cheek and possibly luster quality. 68 is out of the question but I don't think anyone would really argue against a 67. That said PCGS has been tight for a long time now
