Unable to definitively nail this one down. Billon I'd judge, with a diameter of about 26 mm and a current weight of 4.1 grams. My apologies in advance if it dates post-1600.

Yes I think a pretty good match to a Maille from the Spanish Netherlands under Phillip II (AD 1590-1592). Here is a numista link for comparison:

Thanks, Spence. The greater size & weight of my specimen, plus it's not appearing (to me at least) to be composed of copper alone, suggests a larger denomination, perhaps 2 Maille (8 Mites)?

Ah yes good point @LC. I was trying to match the design elements, but didn't consider the weight and diameter.
