After technical difficulties I'm back on line .
What say you on this coin . I'm thinking EF-40 . Any value? Coinfrog thanks for leaving it be .I know you could have had fun with it .

Vf 30 maybe Ef 40 is fair grade in my opinion

VF20. Too much wear on the crown band to be any higher.

A shining example of why this series can be so tough to grade. When you take the light strike into consideration, it may well be an EF, despite the wear on the crown.
I would not be surprised if there is remaining luster in protected areas of the legend. It's a VF coin if you are being conservative and strictly grading on high point wear.

I'm a hair above VF-20 here. The wear on the crown (jewels, pearls, and bands) is less than half, and the tip of mustache is distinct from the face. I've always been taught that over half of the crown details kicks it up to VF-25, and that's where I see this one. It's a decent collectible grade, though. IMHO, there wouldn't be any value difference between a VF-20 and VF-25 on this date, though.

Sadly, this is one series outside the few scarce coins in it that completely falls out of bed once the lustre is impaired. When I was a kid it was a series in demand but we didn't know in the small and exuberant world we lived in that the well worn examples we coveted and found in our pocket change would more than a half century later have achieved zero in appreciation.
