Continuing to make progress on my early dated coins (1474-1499). Have added three more since my June update, though needing to open my wallet more than I had hoped/expected.

I've also learned of some 14th century issues attributable to specific dates that fit my current colleting themes. I really should wait till next year to purse these, since they weren't on my radar for 2020 ...

My goal for 2020, other than surviving it, is to figure out how to keep my coin business going with few to no shows.
The collection is in your mind. Dispose of your albums and free your mind from the tyranny of holes.

My 3d quarter progress report (just adding a few new things in red to my June update):

Quote:
1. Spend far less on coins than I did in 2019. That should be easy since I filled in a lot of gaps in 2019 ... but the remaining gaps are more expensive to fill. June: I won't meet this goal by year end unless I slow down considerably in the second half of the year. Nah, I'm toast. Too much good material on the market this year.

2. Acquire more early dated coins (1474-1506) that fit within my existing themes (i.e. avoid "scope creep" into new areas in order to get dates I am missing). I have gotten 1474, 1476, 1478, 1481 (all Burgundian Netherlands), 1482 (undated but attributed), 1490, 1494, 1495, 1499, 1501, 1503. Some chance for other dates in October auctions.

3. Acquire the few missing 16th century dates in my Kingdom of Poland OFEY: 1516, 1553, 1590. Done! The 1516 came from a CCF member, thanks, @giedrius. In addition, I've acquired over half my missing dates in the next century: 1602, 1610, 1617, 1625, 1628, 1631, 1633, 1672, 1680, 1682, 1684, 1694, 1699.

4. Continue to learn. In order to fill in the gaps in my 15th-18th century OFEY mostly dominated by Poland, I have been learning about (and, of course, buying):
15th century Florence (with an assist from @spence)
16th and 17th century Silesian coinage
17th and 18th century Brabant

My update:

Quote:
1. Get those last two PCGS Ikes! Done!
2. Fill the last seven core Dansco album holes (7000-3, 7070- 2 1, 8100-2)
3. Start the extended part of the PCGS-Ike set (1990, 2013, 2015)
4. Buy whatever appeals to me from 2020 US Mint offerings (2019 was a record year for me): 2020 Clad Proof Set, 2020 Silver Proof Set, 2020 Women's Suffrage Centennial Set bought; waiting on Uncirculated Set to go on sale as well as some more silver goodies.

Well done!
I think you are far more disciplined than I am (i.e. I have omitted mentioning just a few purchases that were NOT on that original list).

You go jBuck!

I think everyone here is more disciplined than me. I have "new shiny object" syndrome. New Shiny Objects just appeal to me.

Immediate goal: get a 2020-dated coin for the upcoming HFBCWG-6. This is really a 2019 goal that spilled over into 2020; the deadline is roughly January 7th.
That did indeed happen.

Quote:
1) Get some more missing dates for my OFEY
Yay!
...Though less than I expected. CoViD-19 seriously cut into my coin shopping, and when I went back I got distracted by banknotes.
Quote:
1a) In particular, fill in the remaining post-1800 holes (1850, 1847, 1845, 1844, 1839, 1829, 1827, 1823, 1821, 1817, 1811)
1850, 1845, 1839, 1829. The other seven are still missing. (Admittedly it's not like I actively looked recently.)
Quote:
1b) If possible, get an unbroken line even further back
Haha nope. Though I did fill up a bunch of 18th and 17th century gaps as well.
Quote:
1c) Regardless of any actual progress, take photos of all of those coins for posting on CCF (this is harder than it sounds, because the smartphone serving as my camera has horrible battery problems)
Haha nope. Though it would be an interesting project now that I figured out that my new smartphone isn't actually too bad at taking coin pics.

Quote:
2) Related to the above: get some dated Islamic coins from the 15th century AD
Not that I could recall, alas. None of the places where I shopped had much of that.
Quote:
2a) Non-Islamic dated (and/or single-year-type) coins from the 15th century AD would be welcome, but unlikely to fit within my budget
This was never expected to happen in the first place.
Quote:
2b) Dated coins from before the 15th century are useful as well, though I already have a bunch of those
One or two 14th century dates, IIRC. Don't recall offhand.

Quote:
3) Get to 400 issuers on Numista (currently 348)... if that's still a thing by the time I get there
374. Long way to go.
Quote:
3a) If possible, also get to 250 countries (currently 234)
238. Even longer way to go.

Quote:
4) Fill some of the remaining holes in my Dansco 7070 album
Got a Draped Bust cent, though it's not in the album yet (pending confirmation of variety ID).
Quote:
4a) In particular, get at least one classic commemorative, and at least one Seated Liberty silver
Haha no.

Quote:
5) Get at least one more coin for my Romanian type set attempt
Not that I could recall.
Quote:
5a) If I can find some Mongolian coins I didn't have yet, that would be cool as well
Ditto, though I did add some Icelandic types.

Quote:
6) Formalize my USSR non-commemorative type set progress, figure out what (if anything) I'm still missing, and get it (...discounting the 1921 ruble and the gold, which are out of my budget)
Never got around to it, though by sheer luck I did get the 1921 ruble (actually 1922).

Quote:
7) Formalize my Russian Empire AE type set, and fill at least some of the holes
Yes to the latter, no to the former (I did find an old list, but I don't have access to it at the moment).
It looks like most of what I'm still missing is rare, though.

Our lists are sometimes fluid.
