So many beautiful Seated Liberty coins and Half Cents - love them.

Yes found Bronte's mistake interesting, then again she was born in the late 1810s and probably only knew the sovereign, unless she knew someone old with a good memory or a lot of money (Being in Yorkshire and the daughters of a vicar - guineas/sovereigns were probably rarely seen).

Arkie - sadly all my French silver ended in the 1860s, except a Napoleon Franc coming up in about 6 weeks.
Loving Halfcrowns. British and Commonwealth coins 1750 - 1950 and anything Kiwi.
If it's round, shiny and silvery I will love it.

We've already seen one from Pepactonius - French 20 francs:

And a used and abused gold dollar, bought as bullion:

1854 and a Jumbo Penny for you all. The year of the Crimean war getting real.

In nice condition, but showing some of the pitting that copper coinage was notorious for - still my finest penny of this era.

1854 is the first year since 1947 (when the UK eliminated silver from circulation) that I haven't got a British silver coin. So I'll have to make do with copper!

Farthing:

Halfpenny:

Penny:

As with Princetane, my 1854 is my best Victorian copper penny. I agree that these copper coins are notorious for pitting: I've found some truly awful specimens with my metal detector!
