A very interesting piece here.

Territory of New Guinea, held by Australia as a mandate until 1952. They issued their own currency of pennies to shillings between 1935 and 1945. All has holes in them, as the native New Guineans strung them up and wore them around their necks etc!

- sorry hazy photo

Shillings were very beautiful and made out of Sterling silver, the 3ds and 6d were less so and made out of Cupronickel and Pennies were bronze.

The coin shown is practically uncirculated.
Loving Halfcrowns. British and Commonwealth coins 1750 - 1950 and anything Kiwi.
If it's round, shiny and silvery I will love it.

And my final coin - a fairly worn 1945 British Halfcrown

The next time I show a British Half crown this worn - we will be in the time of King Edward VII

It's gFine, but seriously I have some creamy Halfcrowns coming up!
