The reverse embrioidered side of a silk 100m note from Bielefeld.

In Kurrent script it states 'Stadtsparkasse Bielefeld' (Bielefeld Town Savings Bank)

It has the face of a turnip in the center..... and the note in my specialised catalogue for these types is:
'NGM09-1a-spurwhswds', and is denoted with 'OYO'

On the front of the note, it must have a purple stampmark (spur), a written hand signature (whs) and a date stampmark (wds).

The 'OYO' refers to colours.
I can explain more if you want?

Most people/collectors, incorrectly think there is 1 'common' piece and 1 rare piece.

A slight improvement on the colouring notation I have just made, is that I am now stating 5 rather than 3 colour 'rings'
Here is another example

The 5 arrowed 'rings' to the design are:

1 - the first zig zag line
2 - the 2nd zig zag line
3 - the face value indicator
4 - the wordings 'Stadtsparkasse Bielefeld'
5 - the actual turnip face

Anyone seeing now the differences? hint = (OYOOY) & (OYYYY)

@jbuck - I originally only desiginated the first 3 parts but have now recatalogued with the 5..........just in case, after 40 years of collecting different colours come to light. (I am aware of at least 1 more!!)

WARNING to ALL - there is currently a modern fake/replica piece being sold on eBay. If you are one of my GNCC (German Notgeld Collectors' Club) members, you will be aware already hopefully from a previous and much more detailed article of mine. The eBay note is purporting to be an example of the rare variant piece. If you are a regular reader of this post, I urge you to join my GNCC!!
There is almost too much to discuss and detail about notgeld in general here, so please visit my notgeld.com website if you are interested in and fascinated by the huge and widely different notgeld issues. My new book, to be published hopefully in DEC/JAN will also be a great addition for all those collectors who don't speak German.........I include myself.

Here is the last example of these types I will show you:

So this piece has all YELLOW ('YYYYY') and no orange ('O')!

Interesting differences. I likely would have not noticed had I just been looking through these items at a show.

The majority of the pieces you will come across will be the more common type along with the reverse notated as 'OYOOY'

Here is a hyper-inflation piece from Atona, dating of course from late 1923:

A piece of German notgeld but looking more like the Reichsbanknote issues.
