Those notes are interesting. Maybe it's just the picture, but the paper seems heavier. Almost like card stock. I like the embossed seal.

Hi Mike - yes, these are made of card and we're mainly issued by shopkeepers in Muenchen (Munich). They are collectively known as 'baekerpfennige'

I've spent a goodly chunk of the past few years in Munich, so those pieces with address have me thinking "Liebherrstrasse? Hohenzollernstrasse? Near the Josefskirche? Pretty sure I've been there!"
I've only passed through Kaufbeuren on the local train though, not stopped long enough to gain any familiarity with it as the "swordsmith town of the old Empire" as the inscription on that piece proclaims.

Hi @publius - very good if you have seen or known those street names. I have never visited Munich / Muenchen but it is on my wish list! Have a nice day. I can post more pictures if anyone wants that?

They are 'real' emergency or necessity money, required by the shopkeepers so they could go about their daily businesses. Someone in Munich must have had the idea first and it really caught on there.

@notgeldman Although my question is not directly related to 'Notgeld' notes, you may be able to assist me. I refer to my post "Serial Numbers On German Banknotes". Any assistance is appreciated.

You refer to a piece of hyper-inflationary notgeld from Emmendingen - please see post or it could be moved here by an admin? With notgeld, it is always best to state the face value stated on the note itself, so I would describe it as milliarden and not billionen. ( That would have another lot of '000')
