I keep some of my silver eagles and maple leafs in coin tubes. I was thinking that it might be wise to throw a desiccant packet in on top to help decrease any moisture levels. Anyway, my question is would there be any danger of just setting it on top the top coin or should I put something down to separate the top coin from the desiccant packet, like tissue paper or wax paper or something like that?

Those small paper desiccant packs seem to shed some powdery debris that probably should not contact your coins. Might be better to put your coin tubes in a larger closed container like a cookie tin, ammo box, or safe, then put the desiccant inside the container.
Silica gel desiccant can be regenerated by heating so you might save money by investing in a silica gel pack. Paper desiccant packs need to be replaced periodically.

Thanks Jaobler! I suspected there might be some issues like that, but just didn't know. Thanks again.

Spoke personally to a specialist bullion dealer recently.

They don't care very much on how ASE's are presented for re sale back to them, provided that they are in at least reasonable condition. They pay same buy-back price for blast white MS or patinated in AU or better condition.

So storage in my possession is not a big issue for them.

Proofs are a different matter, and they suggest that I would be better off presenting proof ASE's to a specialist coin dealer, for a better buy-back price.
