This one seems little different. The motto matches MDD. LIBE of LIBERTY little different from all 72 on Coppercoins, Wexler, VarietyVista. The 2 similar but not quite the same as CC 1972S-1DO-004 and WEX 1972P WDDO-020. whatca think?

Question: Why are you comparing it to Wexler WDDO-020 Philly cent when your coin is a Denver cent?

Quote:

1972 1 WDDO-020

Description: A CW spread shows an extra horizontal bar of the 2 in the date above the normal horizontal bar. The variety shows the master die doubling known for this date on LIBERTY and IGWT.

Are you seeing it is a horizontal bar, not an angled bar.

Just for comparison. I know it's probably dumb to do but I just wanted to see. I didn't find any 1972(D) that had the same looking #2 on Coppercoins Doubleddie or VarietyVista. So I checked (S)&(P) just to see. Coppercoins #1972(S)-1DO-004 & Doubleddie #1972(P) WDDO-020 looked close but not quite the same.

But if it is a match, then it is master die doubling. A very high percentage of the dies had the master die doubling issue. They are common to find from all three mints. All the dies were created in the same place, the mintmark were also added at the same place at that time. It was later when Denver and San Francisco started creating there own dies.

Thank very much coop. I'm sorry to ask more question. I get that master die issue. But the # 2 on all the 1972D mint at all those three sites didn't match mine. Even P&S mints didn't match exactly. I'm thinking LIBE didn't either. So is LIBE doubled in your opinion? Also if #2 doesn't match. If it's so what DDO # would it fall under? Wow sorry.
