For jBuck, a typical conversation with my wife:

Wife (w):"Why do you have so many notes of the same amount?"

Me (m):"I'm doing a type set collection, so I'm trying to complete one of each different note"

W: Pulls out her wallet "Well these $1 notes are different, they have different serial numbers"

M: "I don't collect serial numbers"

W
: "But this one is weird, its all 9's, you don't collect these"

M: "WOOT WOOT, let me see that one!"

W
: "But I thought you didn't collect SERIAL numbers?"

M walking away, head bowed down "Can I still see the all 9's?"

W: "NO, I spent it so you don't collect those"

And then proceeds to buy me notes and coins for my birthday, christmas, father's day?

Just as a plug, you mentioned Vern Potter. One of the most conservative graders I've ever met. I see him at most of the SoCal shows and have purchased a number of notes from him, mostly South Carolina state notes and the occasional fractional. He's one of the "good guys" and you won't be disappointed!

Nice notes again. The Fr1232 has nice sharp corners for that issue and the Hawaii note looks nice and clean. Mine all seem to be a bit darker like they are a little dirty for some reason. I lived in Hawaii for a few years in the early 2000s and the Hawaii notes I saw there always looked that way. I suppose it could be related to exposure to high humidity for 70 years.

I ordered my most expensive note today. I was tempted to get lower cost but as coinfrog said buy the best note you can.

What note is it, or will we have to wait?

You'll have to wait. My list has 9 notes still on it. 4 are large, 3 are small and 2 fractionals. These are the ones I found online at a price/condition I like. Of these 9, 7 are pretty expensive. The one I ordered today is the most expensive of the ones I already purchased and the ones I plan on purchasing.

In reality that doesn't include the $5 Hawaii, a $10 type 2 national and a few fractionals which I haven't found in a price I like.

I also have a few longer term goals, like completing the Fractional type set, but 1 note is currently above my limit (the 50 cent Lincoln) in the grade I want. I also want to get a replacement $20 GC (small size) and maybe a $20 Hawaii in XF.

Thanks for keeping us entertained with your purchases. I'll throw out a few guesses. Not bullying or recommending, just guessing based on what I've seen you collect so far. I'm thinking a 1922 $20 Gold Certificate has been calling out to you. I also don't recall you posting a 1918 $1 green eagle note, so maybe you've been eyeballing one of those as well. On the fractional side, I'll say 4th issue 50 cent Lincoln note since that one certainly gets pricey.

Captain Coffee..... maybe

I really like the green eagle but haven't found one I like at a price I can afford, it's a common note and it's $1, but the prices aren't reasonable

The 50 cent Lincoln is beyond my budget so far. The other large notes on the list are common but cost less than today's note.

Hopefully you won't have to wait to long as it's been shipped.

I did have to get another red box as I was running out of space. I'm going to break the notes into boxes as follows:

Obsolete to Large Notes (will include the fractionals and any slabbed notes)
Small notes pre 1957
Small notes 1957 to modern

I think this is a good way to break down the counts.

Actually got 2 packages yesterday. One was a new note and the other was a new red box for currency. Today you get to see the currency box first

I was running out of space, so needed more storage. The notes are organized by date.
