I'll pre-order the day I get paid this week then Lol. Not going to risk it. Thanks.

When I get this would there be any reason to have the older volumes/editions? I want to know now since you mentioned about the reprinting.

Off the top of my head, no. I meant that the 6th ediiton Volume I hasnt been reprinted so its hard to obtain since its not being sold new and sells for more from resellers. Some people keep old versions of certain books like the mega Red Book because they each contain information like a special section that isn't included in all later editions. And of course collectors may like to collect or keep old print versions of certain books. I kept a few old ones to see changes in pricing over time for example. But unless its like a first edition I really don't think information wise it has much other reason to keep unless someone else points out something I'm missing.

Also in case it wasnt clear, Volume I, Volume II, and Volume III (2024) are all different books covering different coin types, each available latest version is a 6th edition. Volume I is not an 'old' version of Volume II. An old version would be 5th, 4th, 3rd edition etc of each of those books. Its just Volume I 6th edition hasnt been reprinted recently so its hard to get, hopefully they will possibly do so now that they are releasing volume II and next year Volume III.

That info is earlier in the thread...

Volume II about to be released covers Capped Bust and Liberty Seated half dimes, dimes, and quarters; Barber dimes and quarters; Mercury dimes; Roosevelt dimes; twenty-cent pieces; Standing Liberty quarters; and Washington quarters, including the State, D.C., Territorial, and National Park series.

volume III of the sixth edition is slated to debut in 2024. It will cover Capped Bust, Liberty Seated, and Barber half dollars, plus Liberty Walking, Franklin, and Kennedy half dollars, Trade dollars, Morgan and Peace silver dollars, modern dollar coins, gold coins (dollars through double eagles), classic commemoratives, bullion, and coins struck for the Philippines under U.S. sovereignty.

Volume I 6th edition is already out but had to get because it hasnt been reprinted recently so its typically very expensive at the moment unless you buy an older 5th edition digital version such as on Amazon. Hopefully that may change if its reprinted. This volume covers collectible die varieties of Half Cents through nickel five-cent pieces. Included are some of the most popular American coin types, including Lincoln cents and Buffalo nickels. The new sixth edition, volume I, covers Half Cents, large cents, small cents, two-cent and three-cent pieces, and nickels.

For a single inexpensive book or if you are new, there is also Strike It Rich with pocket change 5th edition for under $20 that covers most of the important varieities and errors and is a good starting out book for beginners. It does include many from those above books but not all. https://www.amazon.com/Strike-Rich-.../0593328604/

Thanks, datadragon. I'm focusing on quarters now so that's good that the next volume is having them.

That's good to know about Strike It Rich. I knew of the book, but didn't know how good it'd be for somebody who is still was relatively a rookie such as myself. I'll wait to get the CherryPickers' Guide first though since I've been wanting that for a while and it's almost out.

Yes Volume II is the one you want if going to start to focus first on quarters. Good luck. Seems fine to get the cherrypickers first due to the question of later availability as strike it rich should be more easily found. I would say for others reading this later that Strike it rich is probably the best first book to get for beginners since its more of all all in one type book so it will cover nearly everything in one book, and did a good job to point to most of the important ones to search while not trying to cover every single one which are not always valuable or easy to identify. Then someone can certainly add cherrypickers volumes or use free websites and forums to further enhance knowledge if they continue to be interested and actually start looking. The only exception might be if there will be limited availability of a book where the price then would shoot up later due to more people wanting it than available copies.

Finally placed my pre-order for the CherryPickers' Guide on the Whitman website. I saw that Amazon also has it for pre-order (though it says nothing about the expected August 1st release date).

Expected release date is still listed as Aug 1st, 2023 in a few days, but no info on how they fulfill orders like first to order gets shipped first. Amazon has it listed currently as Aug 31st delivered on Sept 1 to 7, probably because whitman will fulfill all the orders from their site then send to the large booksellers. Amazon may get theirs earlier than that if its released on the 1st. Nothing hints of any further delay thankfully.

The newest issues will be released at the ANA WoM show in Pittsburgh, PA August 10 (I believe, could be any day of the show though), then the next day is release day for the other companies to begin to ship out their inventory they received.

Yes I have read that earlier such as below that it was going to be debuted at the show but also mentioned release date is Aug 1st, so either way looks like it will be out shortly and those who pre ordered should get it shortly and those who didnt will likely be able to finally pick it up at booksellers not long after. I still hope for a reprinting of Vol I as well since thats become too expensive for average people to pick up.
