Compared it to another 2018 LSC and it looked different.

Thoughts?

@sc, it is a little hard to compare since we aren't sure that these two pics are at the same magnification. Can you re-take them with the same (small) object in the frames? Doesn't have to be the edge of a ruler, but that is one example.

Very true, here they are with a cheerio, magnification is the same as I have my magnifier stable, and isn't moving or zooming in between shots:

Ok yes almost as good. Can do do them as an overlay now? That should help us to really see if there is a difference. The letter B does look a bit different so far.

Added: recall that one thing we will be looking at is whether one one coin there might have been a bit of grease in the deepest recesses of the die. In that case the base thicknesses of the letters will be the same but the tops can be thinner or thicker.

Let me know if you want me to crop them even further so it's more zoomed in:

Yes more cropped is good, but I think we need an overlay to see best.

What do you mean by overlay? Can you give me an example?

Ah yes sorry for not being clear. Can you take one of the images and place it on top of the other, perhaps using the triangle to the right of LB for orientation? Then we can see whether one set of letters is truly larger than the other. We use a similar technique to look for die clashes—showing the obv and rev as an overlay.

I find cropping images to the same size with a questionable coin to see which one is doubled, machine doubled or normal.

Note the centers of the 'B'?

Thank you, pretty sure I did this wrong, but here you go. I manually cropped out the image, converted it into a PNG, and overlaid it.

EDIT: Thanks Coop, but are you saying these are both normal?

Thank you, is it circulation flattening that caused the bottom of the B to be more stretched?

Or the overlay image is a slight bit smaller. When cropping images, find locations on the coin that you can crop to to make the images the same size first. Crop, then size them the same, then make the layer image. Making layer are interesting, but if not done correctly, they can fail to prove a point. On my image above. I picked corners/edges of devices that I could duplicate on two images, then size them exactly the same. Note the corners on that image here?
If I wanted to put them closer to each other, I could crop a desired area, then added a small canvas border, the overlay it on to the image. (That way I could make the one image larger.

Oh I see, that makes sense. I'll use that for future references then. Thanks Coop.
