Today I tegected a fake toonie from a corner store. Theybwere fine to exchange it but after warda dove deep into what too look for that makes them fake ans got panicky. I told them its not there job to pull all the fakes they have, then showed them how to tell the difference. It was a weird exlerice as I was not a figure of athority but thats how they acted.

It's unbelievable there's money is counterfeit twoonies, after making the machine, buying the material to produce coins, getting rid of product in large amounts without getting caught, etc etc

I believe the machines were already in place, access to planchets is easy and add an enterprising group in GTA to import and disseminate the product....makes it simple.......Our version of the "China syndrome"

I just searched through several rolls of toonies and found 6% were counterfeit. This is up significantly from the 0.5% from a year ago. These are all I. The Toronto area which might be higher than other areas of Canada.
I also found a 2007 counterfeit - didn't know this year existed.

Seems like authorities are just giving them time to perfect the fakes. I wouldn't be surprised if by now there are fakes out there with a more accurate weight and no camel toe.

Being from the States I have little hope of finding any of these. I order most of my coins from the RCM. Maybe a trip this summer now that things are opening back up. I would like to have examples of a couple of these.

Except the RCMP was advised by collectors 3 yhears ago about the counterfeits. This did not happen because of their "random sampling" program. The RCMP has been BEGGED to do something about them. I think that there are millions in the T.O. area.
